In a super stock---Do you guys put the angle iron as close to the axle as the hole will permit or as far away from the axle as the holes will permit?
knowing you I assume that number is a well tested thing. Is it? Or is it something dictated by the rules? And how did you come to .950" to the thousandth there? Just curious if it isn't something dictated by the rules? I was suprised to read a dimension like that as the answer.
Brad,
No fluff, no lies, just fact. Sharing information only makes our sport better. And at the bargain price of $0. The .950 does not come from a rule requirement. It is a number generated by what the hardware gives you. Write or wrong, I set up a SS rear end using digital calipers. I make sure the L braket is parallel to the axle using the 1/4" stablizer bolts. And when parallel, the distance is usually around .950". I stick with .950 for consistancy. This distance also puts the L bracket hole in the center of the floor bolts. This allows you to loosen these 2 floor bolts and pivot on the kingpin to set triangluation. Once your .950 is set, you never have to touch it again.
This is just my way.
