From the CASBD website:
The members and families of the Cleveland Area Soapbox are mourning the loss
of a good friend, long time racer and board member, Frank Huber. Frank was
killed in a tragic automobile accident on Saturday April 26th.
Frank will be greatly missed by us all.
With Frank it was always about the kids. He
loved racing, but he really loved helping the kids
have fun.
He actively participated in the Cleveland
Soapbox Derby his entire life. Frank was a
racer "back in the good old days", he was a past
president, treasurer and long time board
member.
In recent years Frank also held the role as Scale
Master, making certain that cars were at the
proper racing weight. Many times that included
brightening a young racers day when things
weren't going well on the track. If you raced in
Cleveland, you knew Frank even if you were
from out of town.
Our prayers are with Frank's wife and family.
He will be greatly missed, but we are very glad
he shared part of his life with us at the track. For
that we will always be grateful.

Patricia Huber was driving a few cars behind her husband on Interstate 480 East when she saw the headlights of a weaving SUV heading into oncoming traffic.
Then came a deafening crash. And the hospice nurse pulled over and rushed to her husband's mangled vehicle - a vintage white 1960 MGA roadster he had just purchased a month ago.
"There was nothing to check," she said. "He was dead on impact."

Mentor resi dent Frank Huber, 61, was dead, as was the driver of the wrong-way auto mobile: 27-year-old Adam Brown field of Sheffield Lake.
A third car was involved in the crash, which occurred just after midnight on Sunday. The driver of the third car, whose identity is unknown, was taken to Marymount Hospital.
Garfield Heights police believe Brownfield started going the wrong way on I-480 in Warrensville Heights, about two miles east of the accident.
Authorities said they had received several calls about a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the highway's eastbound lanes before the crash.
After Brownfield struck Huber's car near the I-480 Broadway exit, Huber's MGA was then hit by the other vehicle, police said.
The Cuyahoga County coroner's office stated that Brownfield was going 80 mph, while Huber was going about 60 mph.
Police don't know whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident. None of the three cars contained passengers.
Brownfield's relatives could not be reached on Sunday.
Patricia Huber said her husband was a lifelong aficionado of cars - stemming from his love of soapbox derbies as a child. He later worked with a pit crew in Painesville and collected British sport cars.
On Sunday, the Hubers were coming home from a British sports car club event in Broadview Heights, she said.
Fred Huber had traveled to Georgia last month to get the MGA. He had long wanted the vintage roadster, which he admired because of its sleek, Corvette-like look.
"He was extremely excited," Patricia Huber said.
