I'm pleased to announce that Omaha Board voted this week to approve resurfacing of our track. We will also be redoing our ramps. It was time to get it back to where we need it to be.
We will be grinding some of the current surface off, fixing a couple cracks that has developed over the years and putting a fresh new layer of Ashpalt on it. We are also redoing our ramp situation to give us a little more adjustments when needed to assure we have no Cross Bind, smooth transition to track etc. Very critical to quality racing. Once completed this spring we will once again be one of the finest racing facilities in the nation. Our track is over 20 some years old now and shown some age. We are extremely fortunate to have an outstanding group of people in our organization to make this happen. We have alot of long time people that do not have kids racing any more but step up and help out. They pay it forward! Nice to see and that's what it takes to sustain a solid local like we feel we have in Omaha.
If it sounds like I'm bragging about our organization - I AM. Very proud of what we have.
The track is scheduled to have it's extreme makeover ready for our first rally.
Have a great day.

How will Justin know where he is, when he can't here the rumble strips
Ha Ha
you guys have a great track but the return road is another storie, almost as bad as are road but we are working on that problem.
See ya this spring

Kirby,
With the rumble stips we had kids loose some teeth fillings. Ha Ha. Tell Justin we'll be ready for him and look forward to all the Des Moines people. Good group of folks there and doing an outstanding job of bringing Derby back in that area. Charlie bring some orange paint with you just for old time sake. Ha Ha.
We hope to have the return road in better shape as well. Most the funds and emphasis as you know is on the track.
Thanks for the picture on the web site.
Have a great day.

how lucky you are to have your own track for a local
detroit used to have a track as good as akron but a former mayor of detroit destroyed it
dont let happen to your track
I'm happy to report that Ashpalt is being laid on the Omaha NE track as I type this post. Yesterday they came in and ground off 2" of the previous ashpalt in order to help long term cracks. All the previous cracks were then repaired and Petro matt placed over them. Hopefully they'll stay away.
We were very happy with the fact we were able to get a 20 foot wide paver on the track so they can lay the surface in one pass with NO seam. The guy running the roller is now the key and from what I saw so far - LIKE IT. Flat and smooooth.
Still have lots of work to do to be ready for our first rally the end of next month. We believe once again the facility will be first class!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best it's ever been. SO if your looking to race a great rally this spring - Check out Omaha. This one will be an AA rally as we have our NDR races in the fall.
Best of Luck.

I will always love Omaha!! We as a family won our 1st 3 Championships there. The 1st won we won both divisions. While everyone was at the AA we were running and testing in Omaha. When everyone arrived they were fighting for 2nd as we knew their track better than they did. Krista was 14 and beat David Seitzinger who was 20 at the time. Ruthie spanked the field in kit car. Was the greatest win we ever had. Nothing like the 1st one and has never been that way on Championships after. Came back later with Hal and Heather and lost final by .001 to Christen Sanders.

Just stopped by the track this morning to see the final results. Very pleased and it appears flat and smooth. The Contractor understood our goal of flat and smooth and I think he got it pretty darn close from what I could see. My brother spent all day with them yesterday while they laid the surface and took care of the workers any way he could and explained to them why we want we we wanted.
It's always exciting to see the efforts put forth pay off ! Once we get it all ready I'll figure out a way to get some pictures put up on the Web here.
Yes Derek - We had a very good Nationals here in Omaha those years. Obviously it was very good for you. It was the first of the tripple elimination concept to make it into the barn.
Have a great day.
