I have just finished the ramps for the novice race. Here are some pics of the product. The finish product will be for sale soon. I'm thinking in the $1800 range for this unit. Tell me what you guys think. I cannot take credit for the electro magnets Hagen's design) but the rest was done between NDR and Zero Error. These are way portable and very easy to install.

do the Axels & Wheels of the car ride on the purple channels or do they straddel them. We are looking @ replacing ours in Des Moines been there from 1970 & still work good but we heard from Jerry P that you were working on these & been waiting. I will show these to our board

Derek,
What about a pad at the top of the paddle to keep nose screws out of the picture at AA races?
Dick Thornton
Yes the car straddles over the angle. A rubber pad can easily be put on the paddle.
Derek
Nice job!
Derek I like the ZE purple paint!!
Jim Hagan had the same kind of ramps at his race and they worked real well. Can you make it so the paddles return to their upright position after they are dropped, now that's INNOVATION.
I think you could dress it up with a bar stool seat and a battery box under the stool. The seat could protect the battery from kids touching it. A foot rest, a bracket for an umbrella, and most important is a cup holder could also be added. I think your ramps look great and are cheap enough to help a new local just getting started.
i thought the word electro magnet was a taboo word in derby
they look grea tmaybe an electric solenoid to tip them back up
How about making them solar powered?
J
They turned out real nice!

Derek,
It appears that the ramps drop from the force of the cars. I would suggest that you add some sort of method to PULL the ramps away from the cars for a better start. I never like to see a ramp shoved down alone by the nose of the car.
I would then suggest you have a pad of some sort so as to prevent the paddles from bounce back off the road surface to avoid the potential of hitting the cars from bouncing back up. This is especially true if you have some sort of force pulling the paddle down.
Looks good.
Thanks

Roger.....now your dealing with a Professional remember? The paddles have a spring counterbored into them between the magnet and the plate. Once the magnet is released the spring shoots it down.
Derek
Derek,
I neglected to say they look great. We might think about them for Cleveland. What we have works well but those would eliminate any bounce.
