Anyone using a WIKI instead of a website to market there local?

No cost to host a WIKI, easy to create

Much easier to make changes/additions to a WIKI vs a website

Would lessen emails

Anyone offering College Scholarship funds to there local winners?

Anyone contacting there local region of the SCCA for event help or to fund kits?

Do most locals trophy all entrants?

At our local here in Omaha we provide all our entrants with a Participant Plaque which includes a picture of the car you insert in the plaque itself. We also trophy our top 8 in each division. The next day after our AA we have another fun race for those who did not reach the top 8 and trophy them to the top 4. This second chance race has done alot of good for us to try and keep interest at a higher level.
Some success of a participant leads to more interest long term. That's what you want to develop to hook them so to speak. It helps build a program.

If your organization is able to afford it - Savings bonds are another great prize. It may take some time to mature but you can give a nice say $500.00 savings bond that may only cost you $250.00 up front. Scholarships would be great and that certainly has been a drawing card for the AA.

Have a great day.

The second chance race sounds really cool. If more new racers got some more experience at locals, rather than just 2-and-out, it would help the sport a lot. smile.gif

Madison (my local) gives out savings savings bonds for top 4 (I think). It's $100 or less but still a good amount of money (I have a few).

I really encourage sportsmanship trophies at locals, too.

The thing about college is that you really wont make a big dent in the price. Back in the 60s a few thousand dollars scholarship was a free ride. Today it won't get you much.

AASBD local winners and College Scholarships remark

Lets hear comments from some of the Rochester NY champs that every year are provided a 5K scholarship to RIT. (6 per year). While the 5K scholarship does no fund a complete college education I bet it helps and may even draw in more families to participate.
