scoutdad- 03-24-2008

allstate
geico

if they cant get home depot back get lowes

advance autoparts , autozone, and napa the 3 of them are spending big bucks on speedvision

and get chevrolet back what ever it takes

Why not Toyota?
They spend 60M per year on F1 Must spend equal or more on there NASCAR efforts

Joe Gibbs grandsons are SBD racing, he may be a way to get in the door to Toyota!

Why not Mazda

They have the largest amount of owners participating in racing events than any other auto manufacture

Create a few non paid intern positions for a 3rd year College student majoring in Sports Marketing!

There are 27 Colleges in the USA that offer degrees in Sports Marketing. Most require there students to complete a 1 semester internship to graduate. Most internships provide no salary and provide the students with college credit. Some provide a small stipen to defray cost of lunch.

AASBD must have fresh ideas, why not create a few unpaid college intern positions in the following areas.

Sports Marketing
Mechanical Engineering
K-12 Education

I think your idea of college interns is a very good one. Why not tap into young adult minds and energy. Unpaid would be great but probably more difficult to find people willing to do the job. Still worth looking into.

Have a great day.

NASCAR recently selected 20 interns AASBD should have at least 2 Interns

AASBD Should work through universities so the students actually pay the university to work the internship for free as well as earn 6 college credits for the internship.

Interns would bring a much needed energy/new ideas to the AASBD!!!!!!!

This year there will be stock drivers that were born in this century!

I wonder if interns could help locals?

mph your onto somthing good here

fritz kysar- 03-25-2008
I think you have identified only part of the problem. I believe the AA needs to be able to show any perspective sponsor that they have something to offer them. Right now the AA does not have enough racers (my opinion). I think the AA needs to advertise their Super Kids race (my opinion). I think they need to expand their races in other countries (my opinion). I do not believe that the AA can continue to do business as usual. The AA has to be at least four million dollars in debt so business as usual does not seem to be working.

If AASBD did create a few intern positions

One of the MANY things the interns should look at is REDUCING the price of a 1st year costs for new Stock and SS stock efforts. Turn Key first year price is approaching 1k

If more than one Sports Marketing intern position was created the other SM Intern should work on efforts to grow the rally program.

The interns would bring much needed fresh ideas and energy to the AASBD!

Here is a media release only a few hours old about one NY university sports marketing program that includes placing students in internships

Snip

The Sport Management Department, part of the College’s School of Professional Studies, currently enrolls 400 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The department places between 35 and 40 full-time, sport management interns each semester.

For more information, contact Sarah Zipp at zipps@cortland.edu.

Snip from another recent news article

An effective internship program can pay off for growing companies in a number of unexpected ways, from getting an edge in the battle for talent to providing valuable lessons in managing a bigger staff.

"Most small-business owners have tended to think about interns as some neighbor's kid who needs something to do for the summer," says C. Mason Gates, the founder of Richmond, Va.-based InternDirect and president of internships.com -- services that help match employers with interns. "They're only now starting to recognize the real opportunities out there to build their businesses."

In a survey of 276 U.S. employers by the National Association of Colleges and Employers -- including about a quarter with fewer than 500 employees -- nearly 90% said they now have an internship program in place. As many as 62% of college hires last year had held internships, employers said. Overall, employers reported that 30.7% of their new college hires came from an internship program

Still, many business owners don't have the time or money to create a well-managed internship program. That's where services like New York-based InternsForYou come in.

Launched last year, InternsForYou is a mini recruiting firm focused entirely on finding the right interns for businesses with fewer than 20 employees. According to founder Irene de Gasparis, the intern market has become so hot in the past few years that much of her time is spent helping employers identify perks and benefits that stick out from the crowd.

"Interns make great hires, so you have a lot of competition out there," de Gasparis says. "You can't get away with just a college credit anymore."

The last I heard the AA was almost five million dollars in debt. Without a willingness to change the AA will not survive.

sporty- 03-27-2008
MPH,

Have you sent that info to the AASBD ?

Contacted those people, links ?

I took alot of time A few months back and contacted many companies trying to get them to dontate / sponsor the AASBD.

So, it would be great if others did that also. You may think thats the AASBD job. But anyone can suggest and contact a company.
