For the past 12 years, the best soap box derby racers in the west have gathered in Salem, Oregon to compete in the Best In The West Classic. This year, the 13th, was no exception. Racers from California, Oregon and Washington came to Salem and competed on one of the premier tracks in the country.

Oregon provided it's full range of weather for the event. Saturday was warm and sunny while Sunday provided several hours of rain. Sunburn and rooster tails, who could ask for anything more?

The event consisted of five racing divisions.
- All American Rally racing in Stock, Super Stock and Masters (1 double elimination race each day)
- NDR Glass Wrap Masters (1 double elimination race each day)
- Adult Oil Can Race (1 double elimination race over two days)

The Salem Soap Box Derby Association would like to thank everyone who came to the event and a special "thank you" to everyone the helped make this weekend a success. We couldn't do it without you.
